Oath of Hunters

Paladins who swear to the oath of hunters understand that they are part of a team. They hold themselves to their bonds, knowing that fear breeds in miscommunication. With their voices strong they protect those around them, and use their platform to give a voice to those who need it.

They often enter battle in fashionable garbs, using their visage as a source of inspiration and hope in others, a sign that unity beats covering oneself in armour.

These paladins share the following tenets:

  • Always voice what you feel is right.
  • Keep your community as close as possible.
  • Never bottle up your feelings.
  • When in doubt, Couch, Couch, Couch.

Level 3: Oath of Hunters Spells

The magic of your oath ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Paladin level specified in the Oath of Hunters Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.

Oath of Hunters Spells
Paladin LevelLevel
3Dissonant Whispers, Heroism
5Calm Emotions, Enthrall
9Beacon of Hope, Tongues
13Aura of Purity, Charm Monster
17Dispel Evil and Good, Hallow

Level 3: Hunters Training

While you aren’t wearing armour or wielding a Shield, you gain the following benefits:

Idol Artist. You have Advantage on any Charisma (Performance) check you make that involves you singing.

Unarmoured Defence. Your base Armor Class equals 10 plus your Dexterity and Charisma modifiers.

Battle Song. At the start of your turn, you can expend one use of your Channel Divinity and start singing for 1 minute. For the duration, whenever a creature within 30 feet of yourself that can hear you fails an attack roll or saving throw, you may use your Reaction to allow them to roll 1d4. They add the number rolled to the d20, potentially turning the failure into a success.

Level 7: Harmonic Aura

When an ally passes a saving throw while in your Aura of Protection, you gain Heroic Inspiration.

Level 15: Inspiring Footwork

When you are subjected to an effect that allows you to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, you instead take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw and only half damage if you fail.

Additionally, whenever you pass a Dexterity saving throw, you can expend one use of your Channel Divinity to convert your triumph into a moving performance. Each creature of your choice within your Aura of Protection gains Temporary Hit Points equal to half your Paladin Level.

You can’t use this feature if you have the Incapacitated condition.

Level 20: Golden Idol

As a Bonus Action, you can become a glimmering visage of a stage worthy hunter, granting the benefits below for 10 minutes or until you end them (no action required). Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Long Rest. You can also restore your use of it by expending a level 5 spell slot (no action required).

Golden Honmoon. The area of you Aura of Protection is treated as if under the effects of the Hallow spell. You choose which creature type and extra effect as listed in the spell when you assume your Golden Idol form. When used this way, Hallow doesn’t prevent the chosen creature type from being able to willing enter the area.

How It’s Done. Your Battle Song feature can be used without expending a use of your Channel Divinity, and when you use it to aid a creatures roll, they gain a +10 bonus instead of 1d4.

Encore. At the start of each of your turns, you gain Heroic Inspiration.
