Druid Items
Druids are an integral part of Mythwyn, their ancient magics permeating much of the culture across the world roots. Here is a list of items that represent some of the druidic ability that are present beneath Yggdrasil.
Beastbait Pouch
Wondrous Item, uncommon
This ornate ouch is filled with ripened berries and sweetened meats. By spending one minute in ritual the pouch’s contents can be emptied and used to magically lure a beast. Roll a d6 based on your environs (DM’s choice). If you are not in a suitable environment, no beast appears.
| d6 | Plains | Arid | Tundra | Temperate | Coastal |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Deer | Hyena | Owl | Baboon | Crab |
| 2 | Pony | Camel | Mastiff | Flying Snake | Giant Crab |
| 3 | Boar | Giant Lizard | Elk | Panther | Giant Frog |
| 4 | Giant Goat | Giant Wasp | Black Bear | Ape | Crocodile |
| 5 | Black Bear | Lion | Dire Wolf | Tiger | Giant Octopus |
| 6 | Giant Boar | Rhinoceros | Polar Bear | Giant Constrictor Snake | Hunter Shark |
At the end of the ritual the respective beast appears in an unoccupied space within 60 feet of you. It is initially neutral towards you. A beast drawn out in this way will magically disappear after 1 hour, but is otherwise a normal creature.
Once this pouch has been emptied, you may fill it again with myriad berries and meats worth a total of 5 GP, and over the course of a Long Rest it will regain it’s power.
Powder Pouch
Wonderous Item, uncommon
A naturally sourced weapon of the Druids, made by foraging powder-petal plants deep within the Starwoods, these pouches of fine grey powder have since spread across the roots and become a common self-defence option for merchants.
A powder pouch is a simple melee weapon with the Thrown property that deals 1 Bludgeoning damage. On a hit, the pouch becomes empty and if the target took damage it becomes coated in powder, which clings to it for up to a minute, or until the creature uses an Action to scrape it off. Strong wind of becoming submerged in water will also remove the powder.
The first time a coated creature takes Fire damage, the powder ignites, dealing an additional 3d6 Fire damage
Rootwalker’s Boots
Wondrous Item, uncommon
These thick, green boots are covered in moss and leaves, melding quickly into plants.
While wearing the boots, you ignore Difficult Terrain imposed by plants. Additionally, you have Advantage on saving throws you are forced to make by Plant creatures.
Helm of Elatha
Wondrous Item, rare (requires attunement by a druid)
This helm shines with moonlight, a symbol of the lunar god Elatha. While wearing this helm, if you are entirely in moonlight, you may cast the Invisibility spell without expending a spell slot. When cast this way, the spell ends early if you leave the area of moonlight.
Additionally, you have the Moonbeam prepared and you can cast it once without a spell slot. You regain the ability to cast it in this way when you finish a Long Rest. When you cast the spell this way, it’s area increased to become a 10 foot radius Cylinder.
Oisin’s Firebird
Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement by a druid)
This small, wooden figure of a swallow holds a tremendous heat within it.
As a Magic action you may speak a druidic phrase to summon a large, flaming bird, which has one of the following effects.
Ashen Descent. The bird flies forth in a 15 foot wide, 30 foot long Line originating from you. Each creature within the line must make Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC, taking 8d8 Fire damage on a failure, or half as much on a success.
Blazing Ascent The bird floats above your shoulders, granting you a Fly speed of 60 feet, and Immunity to Fire damage. This benefit lasts for up 1 minute or until you lose Concentration (as if concentrating on a spell).
Once you have used this figure for either effect, it loses its heat and you cannot use its magic again until you finish a Short or Long Rest, or by expending a usage of Wild Shape (no action required).
Willow-wind Lash
Weapon (whip), very rare (requires attunement by a druid)
These ancient whips are twined from the last Monarch Willow that sits in the centre of the Starwoods, given only to its most trusted protectors.
You have a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon.
Whilst holding this whip, it wreathes around your form whenever you shapeshift. While in a Wild Shape form, you gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls and you attacks have Reach.
Light render’s Stave
Staff, legendary (requires attunement by a druid or warlock)
This staff is one of thirteen, each one representing a different phase of life. They were used by the first Gwelets to banish the sun and create night. Woe be what followed.
This staff can be wielded as a magic quarterstaff that grants a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. While you hold it, you gain a +2 bonus to your spell save DC, and you gain Advantage on Wisdom saving throws.
Scarred Sky. Whenever you cast a spell using a spell slot, or start your turn whilst Concentrating on a levelled spell, you may choose one of the following benefits.
- Duskveil. You become Invisible until the end of your turn.
- Twilight Fog. You teleport to an unoccupied space you can see within 60 feet of you.
- Dawn Infernum. You pulse with vibrant coloured fire. Each creature within 10 feet of you takes 4d6 Fire damage.
Spells. Whilst holding this staff you may cast one of the following spells from it, using your spell save DC and spellcasting ability Conjure Animals, Darkness, Daylight, Faerie Fire, Fear, Invisibility, Mirror Image, Misty Step, Moonbeam, Slow, Summon Fey. You do not expend spell slots when casting spells this way. The staff can cast any combination of these spells 13 times, regaining all 1d4 +1 uses daily at dawn.
The Palefall As a Magic action you can pulse the staffs mighty power, shattering the sky. For 13 hours the day/night cycle on the plane you are on is paused, the sun or moon hanging in the sky exactly where it stands. During this time, once per turn, when you deal damage with a spell, you may deal an extra 1d12 Fire or Cold damage, as long as you are in direct sunlight or moonlight respectively.
